Why 'Forever' May Not Last: A Wyoming Ranch Challenges the Permanence of Conservation Easements

In the early 1990s, Paul and Judy Lowham donated a conservation easement to protect the Meadowood Ranch as open space for future generations. But just nine years after the land was protected "forever," the County terminated the easement and the ranch's new owners, the Dowds, were selling off a portion of the land for $1.2 million.
