TO: Residents of Lyme FR0M: Lyme Planning Board RE: Community Attitude Survey The results tabulated on the enclosed form are a summary of the 877 responses we received from Lyme residents 18 years or older. This represents an outstanding response rate of 72%; that is nearly three out of every four adults in Lyme responded to this survey. The numbers reported on this form are percentages, the percentage of people answering the question in a certain way based on the total number of respondents for that question. Thus 67% of all the people who answered the first question regarding police services thought that police services are satisfactory. Two percent did not respond to this particular question. The numbers reported on the survey form are only a portion of the information collected from the survey. In addition, there are upwards of 75 pages of written comments that are compiled in booklets located in the Library, Town Clerk's and Selectmen's Offices. Obviously, duplication of the written comments for every household in Town is beyond the Planning Board's budget, so we encourage you to spend some time with these comments to hear our Town speak. There is no way to summarize the written comments as the views expressed range from one end of the spectrum to another. They are educational and enjoyable reading. Finally, if you are interested in helping the Planning Board update the Master Plan following the suggestions gathered from the survey, please contact Ben Kilham at 795-4112. You may be interested in serving on one of a number of committees which will address specific issues which the Town must face. These might include housing, wetlands evaluation, scenic vistas, and mapping public trails and recreational areas. Our master planning process is just getting started and we need your help. Please accept our apologies for not printing the results of the Community Attitude Survey in the Town Report. It was a last minute oversight that the results were not submitted for printing.
