OEP Quick Tips
While
many of the tips for homes are also applicable to
businesses, the diversity of business types, their
energy needs and activity schedules make a comprehensive
treatment of measures impractical. Here are
some broadly applicable recommendations.
- Shut off non-essential
machinery, computers, and other equipment and, if
feasible, 50 percent of the copiers.
- Consider moving
operations or production schedules away from the
first shift, or starting the first shift earlier
in the day, to avoid high electricity demands during
peak usage periods.
- For new construction
and renovations, investigate energy-efficient upgrades
for building systems, including lighting, lighting
controls, windows, HVAC, as well as renewable energy
options such as solar PV, solar dhw, geothermal
heating/cooling. Comply
with the New Hampshire commercial
energy code.
