Industries of the Future is a new program with traditional roots, founded on the principle that the solutions to NH business problems lie within business. The Granite State has long relied on manufacturing to provide the state with a stable economy and good jobs. But, with advances in technology and economic pressures from overseas, what will NH’s manufacturing sector look like in the long term? What barriers do NH companies face now that interfere with or limit our competitiveness?

NHIOF is seeking to help manufacturing find answers to these questions. Working in conjunction with DOE-OIT, NHIOF is helping several of the state's largest industry sectors – Metals, Forest Products, and Rubber & Plastics – to develop a vision of what business people want their respective industries to look like five, ten and twenty years in the future. Businesses are identifying the obstacles to achieving that vision - such as energy efficiency, productivity, waste reduction and environmental issues - and putting together pragmatic strategies to resolve the problems.

OEP can help businesses through the process of applying for federal funds to help pay for energy efficiency improvements. OEP also offers information and software for manufacturers from DOE’s Industrial Bestpractices Program, including a compendium of technical assistance for electric motors, pumps, Adjustable Speed Drive (ASD), compressed air systems, and steam generation and distribution systems.
