The 25 x ‘25 Plan is being developed jointly by the Office of Energy and Planning and the Department of Environmental Services, in coordination with Innovative Natural Resource Solutions LLC, a New Hampshire-based consulting firm.
On November 20, 2007, a stakeholder conference was held in Manchester to solicit input on the Plan. The conference was co-sponsored by OEP, DES, the Department of Resources and Economic Development, and the Business and Industry Association. More than two hundred stakeholders listened to a series of expert presentations and then participated in facilitated discussions focusing on three broad sectors – transportation, electricity generation, and thermal (heat for buildings and industrial processes). Stakeholders were asked what steps should New Hampshire take to meet the goals of 25 x ‘25 in these sectors? What are the most effective measures for increasing the use of renewable energy?
The discussions were productive and provided us with a wealth of ideas to investigate as we continue to research and write the Plan. We have prepared a record of the stakeholder comments as well as a summary of these remarks.
