OEP's Transportation Program seeks to increase awareness of alternatives to gasoline and diesel powered vehicles among managers of state, municipal, educational, and private fleets, to reduce the number of vehicle miles traveled, and to increase the efficiency of state fleets.

Working with other state agencies, including the Department of Environmental Services (DES), as well as with municipal officials, and as a member of a regional transportation collaborative, OEP will:

  • Enhance the existing Granite State Clean Cities Coalition (GSCCC) by building relationships with fleet managers in the public and private sectors, and strengthening relations with industry vendors and consultants. Staff from the Department of Environmental Services (DES) and OEP will disseminate information regarding alternative fuels and fuel efficiency at the federal, state, and local level, including the New Hampshire Congressional delegation, State legislators, and municipal decision makers. Under an agreement with OEP, DES will also report on the state's Rideshare program.
  • OEP will also continue to take a leadership role in the State's Interagency Fleet Workgroup to promote awareness of fleet procurement rules, and accuracy and timeliness of mileage and fuel consumption date on state vehicles. OEP will prepare the annual EPACT report on the State's utilization of alternative fuel vehicles, and alternative fuels. Finally, OEP will help to prepare and disseminate quarterly and annual reports to the Governor regarding the State's fleet and fuel economy.
  • OEP's executive director will participate in the multi-state Transportation Climate Initiative (TCI), a collaborative effort between the northeast and Mid-Atlantic States to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector. One of TCI's initiatives is the Northeast Electric Vehicle Network, which is advancing the deployment of electric vehicles.
