Electric Power and Renewable Energy

The Electric Power and Renewable Energy program will further the agency's goals of a) helping the state to meet its Renewable Portfolio Standard goals, b) serving on the Site Evaluation Committee to ensure properly-sited fossil fuel and renewable energy projects, and c) helping to promote and support renewable energy and energy storage related business activities in the state.

OEP also serves on the Seabrook Nuclear Power plant decommissioning committee, and is an intervener in PUC dockets concerning energy efficiency programs funded by the Systems Benefit Charge and other fees on natural gas consumption.

Site Evaluation Committee

New Hampshire statute requires OEP to serve on the Site Evaluation Committee and the Site Evaluation Subcommittee for large scale energy generation projects. The committees are responsible for the state public review process for energy facility siting in New Hampshire. This includes new generation, transmission, and more. A wind project is currently before the committee and will likely continue to be heard through the next fiscal year. There may be additional project proposed as well. SEP base grant will provide the funding for OEP to continue its required role on these committees.
