Programs and Initiatives

The state continues to make strides toward increasing our energy efficiency, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, and securing our energy future.

Site Evaluation Committee Study (SB99)

One of two major pieces of legislation passed in the 2013 session that relate to OEP; this bill directs OEP to undertake a study of New Hampshire's energy facility siting process.

State Energy Strategy (SB191)

The second major piece of legislation, this bill created an Energy Advisory Council whose directive is to develop an energy strategy for the state.

Key Initiatives

The state of New Hampshire has a long legacy of being innovative, and these initiatives are an example of that continued innovation and leadership.

State Energy Program

This US Department of Energy program provides financial and technical assistance to states through formula and competitive grants. A number of New Hampshire's energy programs fall within this grant.

Better Buildings Program

With $10 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Better Buildings Neighborhood Program, the NH Better Buildings program was established as an initiative to achieve transformative energy savings and reductions in fossil fuel use and greenhouse gases through deep energy retrofits and complementary sustainable energy solutions.

Fuel Assistance Program

This federally-funded program provides home heating assistance to low-income households.

Weatherization Assistance Program

This federally-funded program provides weatherization assistance to low-income households.
