Nursing Practice

The Nurse Practice Act Page provides information on the RSA 326-B which is the legislative law that defines a number of focuses that includes but is not limited to nursing scope of practice, functions of the board of nursing and the executive director, licensing, nurse delegation, disciplinary processes and continuing competence. This also addresses the Chapter Rules 100-800 that correspond and expand on what is written in the law.

Please Note: There is a 30 day comment period before the board finalizes the Clinical Advisory White Paper. Please review the following questions reviewed by the Board and email your comments to boardquestions@nursing.state.nh.us.

 

Question: Is it within RN scope of practice to administer TPA and Pulmozyme via pleural chest tube?
Answer:  Board affirmed that is not within scope of practice for RN to administer Pulmozyme via pleural chest tube related to lack of supportive references and evidence.

Question: Can LNA, after training, perform MIST therapy (non-contact, non-thermal ultrasound?)
Answer: Board affirmed that it is not within scope of practice for LNA to perform MIST therapy as it requires assessment of wound.
