About Us - Departments - Talking Book Services - Granite Bits - #78 November/December 2000

An occasional newsletter of the Bureau of Services to Persons with Disabilities.

No More Disc Magazines!

Starting with the January 2000 issues, all NLS magazines will be distributed in cassette format. Old subscriptions will automatically be transferred from disc to cassette, new subscriptions will begin on cassette.

Talking Book Topics will also move to cassette format. If you now receive TBT on record, you'll get the January/February and future issues on cassette; if you now get TBT in large print and would prefer to get it on cassette, let us know and we will make the format change for you. If you have a computer, you may read TBT on line through the NLS website, www.loc.gov/nls.

Please keep your Talking Book record players for just a while longer! We have not yet received instructions from NLS. As soon as we do, we will be able to notify you about return procedures.

Pioneers Honored for 30 Years of Service

On October 10, the NH Telephone Pioneers Machine Repair Group was honored with a morning reception in the Executive Council Chamber at the New Hampshire State House. Those able to attend heard Carolyn Hoover Sung of NLS, State Librarian Michael York, and Verizon-NH President J. Michael Hickey all praise and thank them for their years of quiet, reliable service to Talking Book readers - service that has saved the government thousands upon thousands of dollars.
