Ogden Nash Centennial
August 18, 2002 was the centennial of the birth of poet and humorist Ogden Nash. Nash, who died in 1971, was a summer resident of New Hampshire and is buried in the town of North Hampton. His humorous poetry has been amusing adults and children since 1930, when he was first published in "The New Yorker." One funny (and true!) example is "Advice to Husbands":
To keep your marriage brimming
With love in the loving cup,
Whenever you're wrong, admit it;
Whenever you're right, shut up!
In our collection we have a book of Nash's letters (RC 32213 Loving Letters from Ogden Nash) and a children's book (RC 44397 Custard the Dragon). Other anthologies in our collection contain selected Nash poems:
RC 24294 Penguin Book of Limericks
RC 27293 Laughing Matters: a celebration of American humor
RC 53620 Fierce Pajamas: an anthology of humor writing from the New Yorker
