- Equipment:
- All the books and magazines are recorded in a spacesaving cassette format: 4-track monaural, 15/16 ips. It is possible to purchase commercial equipment to play these cassettes, but it can be quite expensive. We can lend each reader a cassette player as long as he is an active user of this library, borrowing and returning at least one item a year.
- There are two types of cassette players
- Regular runs on a rechargeable battery & has a carrying handle. Has switches and levers for Insert/eject cassette, Play, Stop, Fast forward, Rewind, Volume, Tone, Side Selection,Variable speed adjustment. Accepts various kinds of headphones and earphones. Special extension levers are available for those who have extremely limited finger dexterity.

- E-Z runs on wall current only. Allows reader to start and stop, and adjust volume. No other controls. Will accept head or earphones.
- Accessories include
- Amplifier - restricted to individuals with SEVERE hearing loss. Requires a special application and technical screening. Works only with headphones.

- Pillowspeaker - restricted to people confined to bed; requires good hearing. Place your ear near speaker to hear, turn away to ignore. Will not start or stop machines.
