Duties: Perform subject analysis on a broad range of academic library material. Assign LC, Dewey and when appropriate, NLM classification, including customized cutters in some cases. Create cataloging records in MARC21 applying AACR2r. Assist in training. Search the MARC database for records matching item in hand. Link MARC records to appropriate records in the YBP inventory database. Upgrade LC CIPs according to OCLC CIP upgrade specifications.
Qualifications: Working knowledge of MARC21 format and AACR2r. Experience in subject analysis, preferably in an academic library. Practical and theoretical knowledge of Dewey and/or LC Classification scheme, with NLM a plus. Experience cataloging electronic resources is desirable. PC and database searching skills (such as OCLC). Master’s Degree in Library Science and a minimum of 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
