Title: Library Clerk, Bedford Public Library

Duties: The Bedford Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, flexible, customer service oriented person to join our circulation team. The candidate will work at our busy circulation desk answering the phone, checking out books, taking reserves and requests from patrons, helping patrons locate materials and shelving books. The part-time position will require average 12-14 hours per week, including evenings and weekends in rotation.
 
Qualifications: Applicants must have proficient computer skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, the ability to multi-task and possess a friendly professional demeanor and enjoy reading. Title: Children's Librarian, Part-time (29.5 hours per week), Derry Public Library

Duties: Derry Library is seeking a dynamic, innovative person to help develop a program that includes outreach to the community as well as services specifically for grades 3-6. The ideal candidate will also have a vision for and commitment to providing an outstanding library program for the citizens of Derry. This job involves assisting patrons in using all the library's resources, preparing and performing programs for all ages, material selection, promoting library facilities,

Qualifications: M.L.S. degree, M.L.S. candidate or equivalent degree preferred. Teaching background will be considered. Three to five years prior experience recommended. A personable attitude, strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop comfortable working relationships with children, parents and staff is highly desirable. Knowledge of integrated library systems is a plus. Familiarity of the role of technology in children's services is also important.

Title: Librarian Adjunct Faculty, Mason Library, Keene State College, Keene

Duties: The Mason Library at Keene State College is seeking two full-time non-benefited adjunct faculty librarians for the 2010 spring semester with responsibilities in reference and instruction. The individuals who fill these positions will participate in the rotating weeknight schedule and Sunday reference schedule that includes working Sundays up to two times during the semester. These positions have an anticipated start date no later than Tuesday, January 19, 2010 and end no later than Friday, May 7, 2010.

Title: Continuations Bibliographer, YBP, Contoocook

Duties: As an employee of the world’s largest book and entertainment distributor, you could  be at the forefront of turning a book into a bestseller, supplying the world’s leading libraries and educational institutions, making a movie release an instant classic, a new music artist an overnight sensation or everyone’s “must have."

  • Research and establish new series records for incoming customer standing orders by utilizing the LC online database, internet resources and printed/electronic reference tools.  Verify series title, publisher, vendor, and determine YBP’s ability to procure.
  • Research and update existing series records.  Maintain, verify and perform imprint and title changes. Locate and link bibliographic records to correct series records.
  • Act as backup to the Series Authority Bibliographer, researching and establishing new series records for incoming approval books by utilizing the LC online database, internet resources and printed/electronic reference tools.
  • Serve as resource for YBP employees in need of series file clarification/explanation, and act as a key contact for staff seeking resolution of customer standing order problems.
  • Write PDS rules, identify problem rules, and make corrections.
  • Partner with the Continuations Supervisor to establish unit and series file policies and procedures.
  • Profile non-Approval books in series, answer copy cataloguing/receiving questions, and check weekly allocations against the customer standing order instructions for any inconsistencies in the books being shipped.
  • Perform second level research of continuation bid lists and third level research of continuation transfer lists.  Verify series title, publisher and determine YBP’s ability to procure.
  • Review the status report as generated from the series file for any inconsistencies before mailing to the library.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with US MARC format, LC database and previous experience with library acquisitions and serials control in an automated environment required.
  • PC skills that include the usage of e-mail, navigation of the Internet, preparation of Word documents and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret situations and apply judgment to make decisions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Ability to problem solve and deal with a variety of concrete variables; and interpret documentation.

  • Work with publishers to develop title loading and order fulfillment workflows.
  • Represent operations in IT development initiatives.
  • Manage the eContent Department;

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and PC/computer skills.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Bachelor's degree and five to eight years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Title: PDS (Profiling Decision Support) Bibliographer

We are looking for a PDS Bibliographer for our Contoocook, NH team.

  • Create, revise and maintain library approval plan profiles and imprint and series instructions in response to requests from TSMs and Customer Service staff, using a unique in-house programming language.
  • Communicate completion of PDS (Profiling Decision Support) changes to the TSMs and Customer Service staff.
  • Monitor and prioritize PDS workflow.
  • Update online procedures and documentation for PDS rule writing.
  • Add to and maintain the approval imprint file.
  • Act as a resource person for the interpretation of PDS instructions to YBP staff.
  • Help prevent PDS errors by recognizing and clarifying incorrect profile requests.
  • Participate in special projects designed to maintain and enhance the functionality of the PDS database.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to gain thorough understanding of YBP’s approval services and operations.
  • Broad understanding of LC, Dewey, and NLM classifications.
  • Strong service orientation and skills.
  • Strong computer background, especially in logic and programming.
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently.
  • Ability to spend the majority of his/her day working at a PC.
  • Ability to communicate cross-organizationally.
Bachelor’s degree required. Masters degree in Library Sciences or equivalent experience, preferably in Collection Development or Acquisitions preferred.
