The Wadleigh Memorial Library is pleased to announce the promotions of Katie Spofford and Lucinda Mazza to the newly formed positions of Young Adult Services & Reference Librarian and Adult Services & Reference Librarian respectively. Katie and Lucinda joined the Library a little more than a year ago as Library Desk Assistants.
From the start, Katie went over and above her job description by planning teen activities and designing a teen blog and a Library MySpace page. In large part due to her efforts, young adult *book* circulation increased by a whopping 35% over last year - and this at a time when studies report Americans aren't reading as much as they used to! Katie is due to graduate this fall from the University of Rhode Island with her Master's in Information & Library Studies with a specialty in young adult literature and services.
Lucinda also began her career at the Wadleigh by making a huge impression on both staff and patrons alike with her warm personality and strong work ethic. While she was hired only as a part-time staff member, it wasn't long before she proved to be indespensible and earned a full-time position. In addition to a background in public and academic library work, Cindy also brings several years of extremely valuable expereince from her first career in the tech industry. She was recently awarded the "Grow Your Own" institutional scholarship from the Public Library Association to assist her as she begins her Master's degree in Information & Library Studies later this year.
We are thrilled to have Katie and Lucinda as members of our team. |
