CONNECTING TO COLLECTIONS BOOKSHELF

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the American Association for State and Local History will award a total of 2,000 fee sets of the IMLS Connecting to Collections Bookshelf by the end of 2008. This permanent resource consists of 22 books, charts, online resources, bibliographic materials, and other materials essential for the care of collections; a User's Guide that describes each item and answers common questions about collections care; and a Guide to Online Resources (www.imls.gov/collections/resources) containing more than 250 links. Libraries and archives can apply to receive the next distribution of the IMLS Bookshelf at www.imls.gov/collections/bookshelf. The next application period fund from March 1, 2008 to April 15, 2008, with recipients announced in July 2008. Priority will be given to small institutions. Federally operated institutions, for-profit institutions, and libraries that do not hold special collections are not eligible.
Four New Hampshire institutions participated in the 2007 Connecting to Collections summit and have recently received free copies of the bookshelf, they include:
1. Portsmouth Public Library - Mary Ann List, Director
2. Laconia Public Library - Randy Brough, Director
3. N.H. State Library - Michael York, State Librarian
4. N.H. Department of Historical Resources - Russell Bastedo, State Curator
