Nashua - In February 2006, the Nashua Public Library began offering Internet access to customers who bring laptops equipped with a wireless adapter. While the strongest signs is found in the reference area, customers have been able to pick up a signal throughout the building. The library kicked off the service with a workshop to help get customers started with wi-fi.

Nathaniel Philbrick, author of In the Heart of the Sea, visited the Nashua Public Library in March, speaking to over 150 people about researching and writing the book. In the Heart of the Sea was Nashua's selection for its 2006 One City, One Book program. Other programs held in the city in connection with the program included a sing-along concert with David Coffin, featuring songs of the sea; a book discussion with Suzanne Brown of Dartmouth College; and a five-part daytime course with lectures, discussions, and films exploring themes of the book. The programs were funded in part by the New Hampshire Humanities Council.

As of April 1st, the Nashua Public Library is offering Live Homework Help for children from grades 4 through 12. The service, provided by Tutor.com, lets students work online with tutors in math, science, social studies, and English, during late afternoon and evening hours. The library is also offering Live Homework Help en Espanol in math and science.

Warner - Staff changes at the Pillsbury Free Library include: Betty Lovejoy, Children's Librarian / Assistant Librarian is retiring in May. In her 2" years in the position, Betty has developed a highly successful toddler story time incorporating finger rhymes, stories, and simple crafts for children age 1 to 3. Around twenty families regularly attend story time and afterwards stay to socialize with one another. In addition to the full spectrum of children's programming, Betty has also been in charge of overdues, and much of the processing and copy cataloging. She will be sorely missed, but we are glad to hear that after the summer, Betty intends to become a library volunteer.

In March 2006, the library also lost part-time aide Julie Sweeney, who has become involved with the library in many ways over the years, successively as Trustee, volunteer, and aide. Julie is moving, and we wish her luck in her new location!
