STATE LIBRARY NEWS
REFERENCE REQUESTS
by Donna Gilbreth, Supervisor
The Reference and Information Services Section of the NH State Library has a staff of four professional librarians and one paraprofessional to respond to reference requests from around the state, and the world. We do receive many New Hampshire related requests from individuals and institutions from around the world. But many of our 11,000 plus reference questions each year come from libraries and individuals around New Hampshire. Our primary focus is to help the libraries around the state to fulfill the information requests of their patrons. Whether you contact us directly or refer your patrons to us, we do our best to meet your information needs. We maintain a collection of approximately a half million books (mostly nonfiction), a current and historical periodical and newspaper collection, and we subscribe to a variety of online resources to meet the information needs of our clientele.
Also, we attempt to receive all published state government documents and a large variety of federal documents, and we are always working on making our collection of New Hampshire related materials as complete as possible.
Feel free to contact us with your reference and information needs. We might have the answer you and your patron need. You can call us anytime we are open (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at (603) 271-2144, you may e-mail us at nhslref@library.state.nh.us, or you can fax your request to (603) 271-2205.
