COURSES AT THE STATE LIBRARY

The courses offered during the spring session, mid-March to mid-June, at the N.H. State Library were again quite popular and well attended. There were over 40 classes attended by more than 420 librarians who ranged in level of expertise from novice to experienced searcher. The courses covered a range of topics from introductory Internet courses, database searching, cataloging, and Internet for kids, to various subjects including business, consumer, government, genealogy, travel, and medical information on the Internet.

Using the mobile computer lab, courses were also offered at the North Country Office (NCO) of the State Library in Lancaster. The fall course schedule will again include courses in Lancaster and we hope for increased interest.

Several new courses suggested during the spring session have been added to the fall schedule, and it is hoped to add more new ones next spring. Because of the limited space and popularity of some of the courses there is often a waiting list and a recurring problem each session of people registering for classes and then not attending. We hope that the library community will help by making every effort to inform us if someone is unable to attend a class so that those on the waiting list can be informed. All classes are for library personnel and are free but registration is required and is on a first come basis. Registrations will only be accepted by mail or fax. If you are in need of a registration form please contact Electronic and Government Information Services at 271-2425.
