FROM THE DESK OF THE STATE LIBRARIAN...

Janet Eklund, Director of the Warrenville (IL) Public Library will join the N.H. State Library on Monday, April 3, 2000 as the Administrator of Library Operations. After a national search, the Search Committee selected Janet to fill the administrator's position. Janet has served as the Director of the Warrenville Public Library since 1996, from 1992 to 1996 she was Director of the Sycamore Public Library which is also in suburban Chicago. Janet brings a wealth of experience to this position and will be of great value to the librarians in New Hampshire. Her first task will be to get to know the librarians in the state, the N.H. Library Association's annual meeting, being held at the Center of N.H. in Manchester in May should be a good opportunity for her to talk to librarians and get a sense of what we are doing in the New Hampshire library community. The State Library staff is excited about Janet's appointment and she is excited about the opportunities in New Hampshire.

After 12 years of service to the New Hampshire State Library and the New Hampshire library community, Becky Albert, Special Projects Coordinator in the Library Development Services Section has resigned her position to become the Director of the Tilton School Library.

Becky is an outstanding librarian and has been a wonderful representative from the State Library to a number of groups in the li-brary community, including the N.H. Council on Literacy and CHILIS. Becky has been the person who has worked very closely with these groups to bring the assistance of the State Library to them when it was needed. She has worked very hard to secure private funding for The Kides, Books and the Arts program so libraries could provide these valuable sessions to young people. Her talents have been extremely important to the State Library and to libraries around the state.

We will miss her greatly, we wish her good luck at Tilton, they rae fortunate to hve such an outstanding librarian joining them.
