Twin Mountain Public Library Gets a Facelift
by Michele Cormier, President
Friends of the Twin Mountain Public Library
Thanks to the tireless efforts and a refusal to be deterred, the Twin Mountain Library Trustees and Friends of the Library have been successful at giving the Twin Mountain Public Library a new look. The one room library was completely emptied of books and furniture, given a new paint job to walls and bookshelves and a new floor installed. Within three weeks, the books were moved back in and the library opened for business. It has become one of the most popular places in town to visit. Everyone is surprised and pleased with the new look. In addition, all the books were returned to the proper order with new sections created for mysteries, westerns, and science fiction. As in the old library, there is a children's section for the early readers, but now we have added a young adult section with both fiction and non-fiction for that age group. A new (old) computer has been donated for children's use in addition to a new (new) computer for staff and adult public use. An Open House is planned in the near future. Special THANKS go to the library trustees, the friends, a teen group organized by Paul Ouiment at the local high school, and the family of our librarian, Thelma Monahan, who recently passed away. She lived to see the results of this effort. |
