MUSEUM OF NEW HAMPSHIRE HISTORY SETS NEW HOURS FOR YEAR 2000
The New Hampshire Historical Society announced changes in the hours of operation for the Museum of New Hampshire History and the Tuck Library in Concord. After January 1, the Museum of New Hampshire History will be open Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m., and Thursday evenings until 8:30 p.m.
Hours also will change at the Society's Tuck Library at 30 Park Street. As of January 1, the Tuck Library will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Located at 6 Eagle Square in Concord, the Museum of New Hampshire History presents changing exhibitions, currently featuring Civil War photographs, presidential politics, and a panorama of ten thousand years of the Granite State's colorful history. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2.50 for children 6-18, free for members. Thursday evening admission is free from 5:00 p.m. Parking is free in the museum lot off Storrs Street. Get there by taking Exit 14 from I-93 and following the museum signs.
The Tuck Library is an outstanding resource for genealogical research or delving into other topics in New Hampshire history through the Society's collection of books, newspapers, photographs, and manuscripts. Tuck is open for free, self-guided tours on which visitors can see changing exhibitions, as well as the original State House eagle, portraits of royal governors of New Hampshire, and antique furniture and paintings. This exhibition First in the Nation, showcasing the work of New Hampshire photojournalists, is on view in the second floor gallery through February 5.
The New Hampshire Historical Society is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing New Hampshire history.
