Last summer, the State Library awarded 37 grants to public libraries totaling $8,329.99 for the 1999 Kids, Books and the Arts project. Nearly 3,000 New Hampshire children and adults attended the performances held in conjunction with the CHILIS Once Upon A Summer Reading theme. The artists on the 1999 roster were among the favorites of the six-year-old project. Funding for the project was provided by the N.H. State Council on the Arts, the Cogswell Benevolent Trust, the Saul O Sidore Memorial Foundation, the Byrne Foundation, the Madelaine von Weber Trust, Energy North, Crowley Foods, and Horizon Settlement Services. We are hoping for an equally successful project for the year 2000 theme, Reading Cats and Dogs!
