KIDS, BOOKS AND THE ARTS GRANT AWARDS
The New Hampshire State Library awarded nearly $8,500 in Kids, Books and the Arts grants to 38 New Hampshire libraries this summer. The Kids, Books and the Arts project, funded in part by a grant from the N.H. State Council on the Arts, provides funding for libraries to hire quality arts performers in conjunction with the CHILIS summer reading program. A committee of children's librarians and library directors selected ten artists from nearly 30 applications for the Kids, Books and the Arts roster. Nine of the ten roster artists entertained children's librarians at the spring CHILIS meeting in Hooksett on March 18th. Additional funding for the project was provided by the Byrne Foundation, the Saul O Sidore Memorial Foundation, the Cogswell Benevolent Trust, Horizon Settlement Services, Inc., Energy North Natural Gas, Inc., LSTA funding, and Crowley Foods, Inc. |
