EXETER PUBLIC LIBRARY GETS BOOK DISCUSSION GRANT
The Exeter Public Library was fortunate enough to be one of only 32 libraries in the country selected to host a special series of book discussions sponsored jointly by the National Humanities Council and the New York Humanities Council.
Last June, adult services librarian Pam Gjettum and humanist Jeffrey Aronson went to a special ALA session in Washington to learn how this was to be arranged - other librarians and humanists involved were also there.
The Exeter Public Library is doing a series on biography called Distant Lives. Other titles include A Midwife's Tale by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich; The Return of Martin Guerre by Natalie Davis; The Nature of Alexander by Mary Renault, and A.N. Wilson's Jesus: A Life.
Because of the grant, the Exeter Public Library will have two sessions of book discussions: one in the morning and one at night.
The Exeter Public Library is grateful to both the National Humanities Council and the New York Humanities Council for making this fine program possible. |
