STATE LIBRARIAN REAPPOINTED
On February 18, 1998, the Executive Council confirmed Governor Jeanne Shaheen's nomination of Kendall Wiggin to a third 4-year term as State Librarian.
During the last four years the State Library, under Mr. Wiggin's leadership, has established the Family Resource Connection; created Webster, the home page for New Hampshire State government; been designated a Patent and Trademark Depository Library; established the Artists Archives, and the Library and Archives of New Hampshire's Political Tradition. The State Library has added a computer training lab; instituted an interlibrary loan reimbursement program; and developed the Last Copy Center.
In addition, the State Library has added several new positions to deal with technology and it has begun an extensive training program for librarians throughout the state. Mr. Wiggin's goals for the next four years include securing funding for a statewide database licensing program; providing public access to Webster and other Internet resources through a majority of the public libraries in the state; and moving the State Library to a new state-of-the-art facility. |
