GERALDINE PHILLLIPS
The New Hampshire library community was deeply saddened to learn that Geraldine Phillips of Brookline died on February 22 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua. Mrs. Phillips was the librarian at the Brookline Public Library for 19 years, retiring in 1987.
She was born in Rockland, MA and was a graduate of the Dell Business School. Shortly after she and her husband moved to Brookline in 1961, Mrs. Phillips became an active participant in community activities. She served as the town clerk, school district clerk, and library trustee. She was instrumental in the founding of the Kid's Playhouse and the Way Off Broadway Players and usually had a leading role in that groups production.
In addition to her work at the library and her many other pursuits, Mrs. Phillips was an active member of the New Hampshire Library Association, serving as the association's secretary and on numerous committees. She had a great interest in New England history as well as a love for the history and traditions of Brookline.
Mrs. Phillips will be missed and fondly remembered by her colleagues and friends. |
