The Baddour Library at Daniel Webster College (DWC) is seeking a visionary director responsible for program development and the coordination and evaluation of library services with student, academic departments and administration. The director should be a creative leader who can judiciously integrate electronic resources into the collection while still respecting print material as the chief strength of an academic library.
The successful candidate will lead the library into the future and provide innovative library information services to students, faculty, and staff. The director will oversee a targeted effort to strengthen and expand the library's collections, initiate activities in library education, and guide further expansion into electronic sources of information. Grant writing and seeking external support are integral parts of the director's responsibilities.
Minimum qualifications include an MLS from an ALA accredited institution and management experience in an academic library setting. Experience in program planning, fiscal management, human resource and facilities management are required, as well as knowledge of library automation, advanced information technologies, and library operations (including management of electronic collections). Strong interpersonal skills, including experience with decision-making in a collaborative environment, and ability to work with diverse constituencies both within and outside the college are necessary. Salary is competitive. The director reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Daniel Webster College has an enrollment of approximately 500 day students, and an active evening program. The college is a private, coeducational, nonprofit institution offering professional education in the fields of aviation, business and management, computer science, information systems, and engineering. The college is situated on 50 wooded acres in New Hampshire's second largest city, Nashua (voted America's most livable city twice in the last decade), which is an hour's drive from the Atlantic Ocean and the White Mountains, and only 45 minutes north of Boston. DWC is part of the New Hampshire Library Consortium.
