In a letter from Patty Stonesifer, President and Chairman of the Board of the Gates Library Foundation, State Librarian Kendall Wiggin was informed that New Hampshire does not meet the eligibility requirements, which are based on poverty levels, for participation in a Statewide Partnership in the current grant round. However, she did encourage Mr. Wiggin to examine material that she had enclosed with an eye toward possible collaboration in the future.

Based on this material, it is also clear that no libraries in New Hampshire currently meet the eligibility requirements for the 1998 Urban Library Leadership Grants or the Opportunity Grants for Libraries, the other two categories in the Gates Library Foundation grant program.
