COOK MEMORIAL LIBRARY RECEIVES GRANTS
The Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth has received a grant from the International Paper Company Foundation that will be used to complete Phase Four of the library's technology plan - the provision of public access to the Internet. The International Paper Company has plants located in New Hampshire.
Other grants received this year include one from Kids, Books and the Arts, and one from the Arts Council of Tamworth. The latter grant was used to provide children's programs during the library's summer reading program. Funds were also received from the New Hampshire Humanities Council to sponsor Picturing Words, a six-week program for children that is scheduled to take place this fall. This unique series will combine visual arts, taught by Jay Rancourt, Children's Librarian at the library, and written arts, taught by Louise Wrobleski, a professor at the University of New Hampshire.
In addition, the library receives annual support from the Tamworth Foundation, a foundation that was instrumental in assisting the library with its automation program. |
