IN REMEMBRANCE
The New Hampshire library community is saddened to learn of the recent deaths of the following residents who actively contributed to New Hampshire libraries over the years.
Jacqueline P. Rayno of Wilmot Flat died at her home on April 5. Mrs. Rayno served as librarian at New London and Kearsarge Regional high schools and she taught English at New London and Andover high schools and Pembroke Academy. Mrs. Rayno was also a former officer of the New Hampshire Library Association.
Wyman Pender Boynton of Portsmouth died at his home on May 26. An attorney and former state legislator, Mr. Boynton served on the boards of trustees of the Portsmouth Public Library and the Portsmouth Athenaeum.
Barbara A. Hedman of Keene died on April 18 in Keene. Mrs. Hedman taught English at Appleton Academy in New Ipswich and was an active supporter of the Temple Library.
Shirley A. Bakain of Hillsboro died on April 21 in the Hospice House in Concord. Mrs. Bakain volunteered extensively for the Hillsboro and Hudson libraries.
Ferue P. Adams of Davenport, FL, and Derry died on March 17 at her winter home in Davenport. A former state representative and town clerk, Mrs. Adams was the librarian in Brentwood during the 1950s.
Sue E. Smas of Pike died on February 4 at the Cottage Hospital in Woodsville. Mrs. Smas the librarian at the Pike Library for several years.
Vivien R. Whitney of Peterborough died on March 17 at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough. Mrs. Whitney worked as a volunteer at the Peterborough Town Library.
Eleanor W. Merrill of Northwood died in Northwood on February 11. Mrs. Merrill served for many years as a volunteer librarian at the Chesley Memorial Library in Northwood.
Frances J. Forcier formerly of Jaffrey died on February 27 at the Mount Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, VT. Mrs. Forcier taught in the Jaffrey elementary schools for many years and served as an officer in Jaffrey's Friends of the Library.
Dorothy M. Walsh of Chester died at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester on March 2. Mrs. Walsh was a trustee of the Chester Public Library.
Ruth F. Sargent of Plymouth died on February 25 at the Genesis Elder Care in Laconia. She was a long-term member of the Young Ladies Library Association in Plymouth and served as an assistant librarian at the Plymouth Public Library for several years.
Robert M. Lloyd of Chocorua died at his home on March 5. Mr. Lloyd was a member of the board of trustees of the Chocorua Public Library. |
