STATE LIBRARY ADVISORY COUNCIL HARD AT WORK ON LSTA 5-YEAR PLAN
In accordance with Public Law 104-208 which established the new Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) each state must submit a 5- year plan to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) by August 1, 1997. On April 1, 1997, the State Library submitted a preliminary plan (a plan to plan) to the IMLS and work on the final plan is well underway. In May the State Library Advisory Council held an all day meeting on the campus of New Hampshire College to discuss core library values, services, and to look at what directions libraries service take.
That work will be incorporated into the final plan as well as comments received from librarians, trustees and library users. The full text of the Preliminary Plan is available on the State Library's home page at <www.state.nh. us/nhsl/nhlac/lsta.html>. If you do not have access to the State Library's home page you may request a copy of the plan from Darlene Reinhard at 271-2392.
To assist the State Library Advisory Council and the State Librarian in developing the 5-year plan your comments on the preliminary plan are encouraged. Please send your comments to:
