"CHAMPION FOR CHILDREN" AWARD
The South Central Region School Administrators of the New Hampshire School Administrators Association (NHSAA) named Frances Wiggin as that region's Champion for Children on May 23 at a breakfast meeting of the association at the New Hampshire Technical Institute. Nominees for the award are those who are considered to have given distinguished service to children in each of the state's five regions.
Mrs. Wiggin, Director of the Bedford Public Library for the past 39 years, was a catalyst for establishing libraries at each of the Bedford public schools. She was instrumental in promoting professional relationships among town and school librarians. She also played a major role in the promotion and registration of the construction of the new Bedford Public Library, which includes Story Castle, the children's room. It was through her untiring efforts and convincing arguments that the trustees approved, the architect designed, and the Bedford Rotary Club financed this imaginative, exciting, and magic kingdom for young readers. |
