For Librarians - Services to NH Libraries - Book Bag Program
The New Hampshire Book Bag Program is a joint project of the New Hampshire State Library and the New Hampshire Humanities Council.. The Book Bag Program provides collections of literature to book discussion groups in New England (first preference is given to New Hampshire customers). Over 400 titles in quantities that vary from 10 to 100 copies are available through the program.
Eligibility

Representatives of nonprofit agencies (e.g. libraries, nursing homes, and senior centers) may request New Hampshire Book Bag service. New Hampshire libraries are given first consideration when booking Book Bag titles.

Deliveries in New Hampshire are by New Hampshire State Library van service only. Customers without van service must make arrangements with a van service library, or pick up Book Bag books at the State Library.

Groups from out of state using the service must pay shipping and insurance both ways.

NH Humanities Council

In addition to this Book Bag program, the NH Humanities Council also provides Book Discussion Programs in which libraries may choose books in a thematic series and make arrangements for scholars to lead book discussion groups. For more information on this program, please contact the New Humanities Council directly (telephone 224-4071) and/or visit their web site: http://nhhc.org/programs-what-is-new-hampshire-reading.php

List of Book Bag Books Available

Note: Most of the older titles in the list are mass-market paperbacks and probably have small print. You may want to check ahead so we may get a copy and see if the print size is adequate for the group requesting the title.
