Electronic and Government Information Services - 603-271-2143
The NHewLINK contract for access to WorldCAT expired on June 30th, 2009. The state library did not renew the subscription to this database due to the current economic conditions and budget situation. The State Library has always worked very hard to provide access to the best information resources available to as many libraries as possible, so this has not been an easy decision to make.
We encourage libraries to use the free version of WorldCat, which is available at http://www.worldcat.org/, to meet your informational needs.
Library Development Services - 603-271-2865 (Concord) 603-419-0086 (Lancaster)
If your library received a grant from the State Library for a Kids, Books and the Arts event, please return the completed evaluation form to Ann Hoey at the State Library in Concord by August 28, 2009. Libraries that do not return evaluations will be ineligible to receive a Kids, Books and the Arts grant in 2010.
If you would like to see samples of library policies, please visit the NHSL webpage, which has been recently updated to include sample policies from other states as well as the Meeting Room Policies previously posted: www.nh.gov/nhsl/lds/meeting_room.html
The NH State Library will not be continuing as a “Community Partner” with the WebJunction project, due to our reduced budget. This means that as of 12 September 2009, WebJunctionNH (http://nh.webjunction.org) will cease to exist.
WebJunction Global (www.webjunction.org/1) will continue and many of the global offerings will still be available to you, including the full course catalog, but you will be charged the full list price for courses – usually $40. per course unit – that NHSL has been paying for you through WJ-NH.
There have been 171 online courses started through WJ-NH since August 2008. You still have one year from the date you registered to finish your courses. You will login at WebJunction Global and find them under “My Courses”.
WJ-NH has over 200 course credits left. NHSL can not get reimbursed for them – so we are hoping that during the month of August you will sign up for as many courses as you may be interested in taking during the next year. You will have a year to finish them. If you have any questions, please contact Tom Ladd.
Tom Ladd, NHSL Consultant & Library Education Coordinator, is now located at:

NHAIS Services - 603-271-2141
Charles LeBlanc, supervisor of NHAIS services, retired on July 30, 2009. Charlie worked for more than 20 years at the State Library and was involved in establishing the statewide union catalog. We wish him a happy, healthy retirement.
If your library will be taking an "ILL vacation" this summer, please remember to let NHAIS Services know. We'll change your account so requesting libraries won't see a check box next to your library's name when selecting lenders. Send information about what dates you will stop taking requests and will resume taking requests, along with your library's name and HSA code, to the NHAIS Help Desk at nhu-pac@dcr.nh.gov. Thank you--and enjoy your vacation!
Reference and Information Services - 603-271-2144
Zelda Moore, a reference and genealogy librarian at the NH State Library, retired on July 31, 2009 after 25 years of service. Her expertise and commitment to public service will be greatly missed.
