The National Endowment for the Arts announced the recipients of the latest round of Big Read grants and New Hampshire Reads Fahrenheit 451 was among the funded projects.
Over the next few months Mary Russell from the Center for the Book at the NHSL will be working with the New Hampshire Humanities Council, the NH Department of Cultural Resources, and over 40 libraries, schools, and bookstores around the state to put together discussions, programs, publications, and events all focusing on Bradbury's novel.

For those public libraries needing to write or to revise their Investment Policy (because they hold the principal of trust funds), we now have some samples available on WebJunction New Hampshire.
Go to http://nh.webjunction.org/do/DisplayContent?id=17414
If you forget the direct link, go to WebJunctionNH front page – it is under the NH tab.
Here you will find documentation and an article on how to write an Investment Policy, a generic sample provided by the NH Attorney General’s Office, and samples from two NH public libraries, which have been reviewed and approved by Terry Knowles of the AG’s office.
I would love to have more NH library samples. If you wish to share yours, please e-mail it (or a link to it if on your own website) to me (tladd@library.state.nh.us ). It will be reviewed by Terry Knowles before it is posted.
Please return your Kids, Books and the Arts evaluation to Ann Hoey within two weeks of your Kids, Books and the Arts event.
The NH Public Library Annual Report for FY2006 is locked down. Of 230 libraries, 202 responded, for a return rate of 88%. Next year's survey will begin much earlier and will not force librarians to spend the early summer collecting and reporting data.

The Federal disability website & portal, www.disabilityinfo.gov has nine buttons (Education, Employment, Health, Benefits, Technology, Transportation, Civil Rights, Community Life, Housing). By clicking on any one of them and clicking on the map, you can find disability resources for that topic in our own state or in any other state to compare with ours.
Reference and Information Services - 603-271-2144
Did you know... that only approximately 20% of our collection is in the NHUPAC?
That we have a circulating LIS collection with an emphasis on materials that provide professional developments for New Hampshire librarians? That you can access those materials through ILL and they will show up at your library on the ILL van shortly after a request is made?
In addition, we have many reference works available, so please feel free to call us for assistance; we’re here to help. |
