There were 12 applicants for the Conservation Grant Program (better known as the Moose Grants) this round; the evaluation committee met on June 7 and tentatively chose certain projects. Approximately $40,000 is expected from the moose license plate program; individual grants were limited to $10,000 or less. The final decision will be made within a month or so, and the grants will be distributed in August.

The 2002 Public Library Personnel Data Survey is now online, in Microsoft Excel; the link is at http://www.state.nh.us/nhsl/ldss/statsarchival.html An Excel reader (similar to Adobe Acrobat) is available online; that link is also on the State web page.

A Resource Guide on Library Friends has been added to the Library Development Services web page at http://www.nh.gov/nhsl/ldss/RGfriends.html. There is a link to the Friends of Libraries USA (FOLUSA) web site, an update on the Association of New Hampshire Library Friends, and links to sample bylaws, sample Articles of Incorporation, and guidelines to becoming legal in NH and Washington (i.e., sources and costs of paperwork, helpful hints, and procedures). The samples and "Legal Steps to Forming a Library Friends Group in New Hampshire" were prepared by Sue Palmatier.

Our section is always looking for a way to publicize our "talking books" and other services. We love to attend health fairs, senior fairs, etc., and set up our display table. If you know of any likely events in your area at which we can be a vendor, just contact us.
