Here are the answers! - to a couple of the questions for 2007.
in question #36 regarding databases, the NHSL provides libraries with access to 22 (twenty-two) databases.
Downloadable audios through the state consortium or any other source are NOT counted at all as "resources owned" (question #33). The circulation of downloadable audios is counted in questions #39 - #41, "use of resources".

The New Hampshire State Library collects, organizes, and publishes a variety of statistical information about New Hampshire's public libraries. The statistics collected in this report are used to compile and publish the annual New Hampshire Public Library Statistics. The data is based on the New Hampshire Public Library Annual Report (NHPLAR) sent to and completed by the public libraries each year. The data provides an overview of public libraries' finances, holdings, services, programs, and personnel. Local library boards and librarians can use the data to monitor library trends, to request increased funding or show the need for expansion of the library or services, and to compare their services with libraries of similar size in New Hampshire. The State Library submits a yearly report to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) for its Federal/State Cooperative System (FSCS) program. NCES publishes a report, ranking all states, annually in paper and electronic format.

2005 Statistics
2005 NH Preliminary Public Library Statistics – complete file
2005 NH Preliminary Public Library Statistics – Topical Worksheets
Presented in these Excel files are the results of the 2005 New Hampshire Public Library Annual Reports (NHPLAR) submitted by the public libraries to the NH State Library.
Please note that these are officially "Preliminary" statistics. The final "official" statistics will be released by the National Center for Education Statistics - these are expected to be released by NCES sometime in late 2007.
These NH statistics are available in two different Excel files:
The first is the complete, massive Excel file, in read only format, for those who have Excel and with to do their own cross comparisons and excerpt their own data of choice.
The second is broken into 32 worksheets. Each presents the libraries in alphabetical order by the name of the library, e.g. the Byron G. Merrill Library is at the end of the B's, not in the R's under Rumney. In a few cases, this may differ from the “Legal Name of the Library”, which was used the previous two years. To assist you in finding a specific library, there is an index file at the end of the worksheets.
The 32 worksheets for 2005 group the information by topic:
- Contact Information
