I've adored Alice Mattison since The Book Borrower. I tenderly read its dedication to my favorite poet: "...in memory of Jane Kenyon,” Her new book, In Case We're Separated blew me away! It spans several generations of Jewish immigrants through poetically linked stories. In their tragic, hopeful connections, this zany family seems decidedly inseparable. Donald Hall quotes the late Kenyon, "Dying is simple," she said. "What’s worse is . . . the separation." Thank you Alice Mattison for your great book. And also thank you Jane Kenyon.
