Geek Love by Katherine Dunn
In our current time, in which "morality" decides elections and sets policy, here's a novel that makes us all question exactly what the definition of the word really is. A moving story of alienation and family loyalty against the lively back drop of the circus freak show, this is a novel that provokes, amuses, and astonishes at every turn.

Some Mistakes of Moses by Robert Ingersoll (Prometheus Books 1986)
This reprint of Robert Ingersoll's brilliant critique of the Bible is an inspiration to freethinkers everywhere. I do not know what it is like to be "born again," since I have only been born once, however, the experience may be similar to the joy and comfort that overwhelmed me as I read this book.
