Timothy; or, Notes of an Abject Reptile by Verlyn Klinkenborg. This is a remarkable book, a book that meets my criteria of wanting to run up to people on the street and say you’ve GOT to read this book!  This is a vignette of life in an 18th century English village as seen through the eyes of a tortoise.  It is profound, poignant, and poetic.
