New Rules Effective November 1, 2007

On February 20, 2004, the Appraiser Qualifications Board of The Appraisal Foundation adopted changes to the Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria that will become effective on January 1, 2008. These changes represent the minimum national requirements that each state must implement for individuals applying for a real estate appraiser license or certification as of January 1, 2008. If you are new to the profession or planning to upgrade your license or certification you must be aware of the coming changes! For specifics, you are urged to visit the Appraiser Qualifications Board website.

In response to the AQB's new criteria, the NHREAB has drafted changes to its rules. We have also taken this opportunity to incorporate into the rules policies and procedures that were adopted over the years, but never actually written into the rules. We have added a few new requirements that reflect changes within the profession that we saw as needing addressing. Finally, we edited the rules for the first time since 1999, taking out obsolete entries and refining requirements that were not clear. As a result, the proposed changes represent a complete rewriting of the rules.

Work to rewrite the rules began in early 2006. On October 18, 2007, the Joint Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules approved the final proposal. The new rules were formally adopted by the New Hampshire Real Estate Appraiser Board at a special meeting held October 31, 2007. They took effect November 1, 2007 and are available via the link below.
