Due to the fact that New Hampshire’s alternate base period law meets all requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the U.S. Department of Labor has instructed the Secretary of the Treasury to disburse one-third of the state’s maximum incentive payment in the amount of $10,467,073 to New Hampshire’s Unemployment Trust Fund. The funds should be in our Trust Fund within the next week.
NHES is supporting legislation, SB 144-FN, that would provide that an individual will not be disqualified for receipt of unemployment compensation due to separating from work for “compelling family reasons.” Passage of the bill would make New Hampshire eligible for the remaining $20.9 million of its maximum incentive payment under the ARRA.
