New Hampshire Local Area Unemployment Statistics

Highlights – September 2005 Estimates

• The September State unemployment rate was 3.6 percent, an increase of 0.2 percentage points from the August 2005 rate, which was unchanged with revision. The September 2004 rate was 3.3 percent.

• The NH portion of the Brattleboro VT-NH LMA had the lowest unemployment rate for the month of September while the NH Portion of the Nashua NH-MA NECTA Division had the highest.

• Two areas recorded rates between 2.0 and 3.0 percent:
  • NH portion of the Brattleboro VT-NH LMA - 2.4 percent
  • NH portion of the Lebanon NH-VT MicroNECTA – 2.7 percent
    
    
• Twenty-one areas registered rates between 3.0 and 4.0 percent:
  • Moultonborough NH LMA – 3.0 percent
  • Plymouth NH LMA – 3.0 percent
  • Wolfeboro NH LMA – 3.0 percent
  • New London NH LMA – 3.1 percent
  • NH portion of the Conway NH-ME LMA – 3.2 percent
  • Keene NH MicroNECTA – 3.2 percent
  • Newport NH LMA - 3.2 percent
  • Laconia NH MicroNECTA – 3.3 percent
  • Charlestown NH LMA – 3.3 percent
  • Franklin NH MicroNECTA – 3.3 percent

  • NH Portion of the Exeter Area, Haverhill-North Andover-Amesbury MA-NH NECTA Division- 4.1 percent
  • NH Portion of the Lowell-Billerica-Chelmsford MA-NH NECTA Division – 4.1 percent
  • NH Portion of the Lawrence-Methuen-Salem MA-NH NECTA Division – 5.5 percent
    
    
• New Hampshire’s September 2005 labor force estimates show 16,310 more employed and 3,330 more unemployed than in September 2004 for a year-to-year net gain in the labor force of 19,640.
