LEAD ABATEMENT WORKER

Description

Lead Abatement Workers are employees of a lead abatement contractor or of the owner or manager of a leased or rented dwelling or dwelling unit, or of a child care facility. They may take any set of measures designed to permanently eliminate a lead exposure hazard, including removal, containment, encapsulation, or replacement of surfaces or fixtures that present a lead exposure hazard and all preparation, cleanup, and post-abatement clearance testing associated with such measures.

Certification Requirements

  • File application
  • Complete a certified training program specific to the discipline of lead abatement
  • Lead abatement workers must perform lead abatement activities under the supervision of a lead abatement supervisor, a lead abatement contractor, or an owner qualified to perform lead abatement

Examination

  • Not required

Continuing Education

  • Refresher training program specific to the discipline must be completed once every three years

Fees

Initial certification $50.00
Annual renewal $50.00

Reciprocity:  Permitted with individuals licensed by another state or the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), provided the requirements for licensure and training are equivalent to or higher than requirements of this state

Residence/Citizenship:  New Hampshire residency is not required; US citizenship or a working green card is required
