DIETITIAN

Description

Dietitians organize, plan, and conduct food service or nutritional programs to assist in promotion of health and control of disease. They may administer the activities of a department providing quantity food service, or may plan, organize, and conduct programs in nutritional research.

Licensure Requirements

  • Must be of good character
  • Hold a baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States and have completed a major course of study in human nutrition, nutritional education, food and nutrition, dietetics, public health nutrition, or food systems management
  • Successfully complete a dietetic internship of no less than 900 hours, pre-professional practice program, or coordinated program with documented experience in the practice of dietetics under the supervision of a registered, certified, or licensed dietitian
  • Successfully pass the examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Maintain continuing professional education requirements

  • Written examination required

Continuing Education

  • Twenty hours of continuing professional education related to the relevant practice in the 24 months prior to renewal

Fees

New license $150.00
Biennial renewal $100.00

Reciprocity:  Permitted provided the requirements or standards for certification or licensure in that state are equivalent to, or greater than, those of New Hampshire

Residence/Citizenship:  Requirements for neither New Hampshire residency nor US citizenship are specified
