Description
Dietitians organize, plan, and conduct food service or nutritional programs to assist in promotion of health and control of disease. They may administer the activities of a department providing quantity food service, or may plan, organize, and conduct programs in nutritional research.

Licensure Requirements
- Must be of good character
- Hold a baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States and have completed a major course of study in human nutrition, nutritional education, food and nutrition, dietetics, public health nutrition, or food systems management
- Successfully complete a dietetic internship of no less than 900 hours, pre-professional practice program, or coordinated program with documented experience in the practice of dietetics under the supervision of a registered, certified, or licensed dietitian
- Successfully pass the examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Maintain continuing professional education requirements

Continuing Education
- Twenty hours of continuing professional education related to the relevant practice in the 24 months prior to renewal
