ASBESTOS DISPOSAL SITE WORKER

Description

Asbestos Disposal Site Workers are permitted to disturb asbestos at asbestos disposal sites for a licensed asbestos disposal site contractor. There must be at least one experienced asbestos disposal site worker on site, and there must be at least one experienced, certified asbestos disposal site worker for every certified asbestos disposal site worker-in-training.

Certification Requirements

  • Must complete a basic training program or combination of programs that cover the basics of asbestos and the health effects associated with asbestos, along with state-of-the-art work practices for disturbing asbestos at asbestos disposal sites, and other topics as specified in the NH Administrative Rules Part Env-A 1814
  • Must read and comprehend all information provided in a document published by the NH Department of Environmental Services in May 2000, titled Guidance for Managing Asbestos Disposal Sites
  • Must have at least 40 hours of work experience involving the disturbance of asbestos at asbestos disposal sites. If the individual has less than 40 hours of work experience, the individual may apply as an Asbestos Disposal Site Worker-in-Training

Examination

  • Required—third party written examination consisting of at least 50 multiple-choice questions administered by the Bureau of Environmental and Occupational Health, attaining a score of 70 percent or greater

Continuing Education

  • Annual refresher training self-administered by the certificate holder, and passing a third-party written examination with a score of 70 percent or greater that is designed to test the trainee's understanding of the information covered by the basic training program, the document entitled Guidance for Managing Asbestos Disposal Sites and current and relevant federal, state, and local regulations

Certificate replacement $20.00

Reciprocity:  Not permitted, this certificate is unique to New Hampshire

Residence/Citizenship:  Neither New Hampshire residency nor US citizenship is required

Number of Active Licenses:  20 licensed contractors; 100 certified workers/workers-in-training
