Governor Hassan Proclaims Correctional Officers and Employees Appreciation Week
(Concord, NH) Governor Maggie Hassan issued a proclamation declaring the week of May 4-10, 2014 Correctional Officers and Employees Appreciation Week. The text of the proclamation reads:
WHEREAS, During these extraordinary economic times much is expected from the men and women who work in our state and county correctional facilities every day; and
WHEREAS, Correctional Officers are skilled professionals who must act as counselors, communicators, and experts at crisis intervention and must preserve the safety of our lives and property, maintaining their professional demeanor, while often facing hostile, aggressive, and intimidating behavior from correctional facility inmates; and
WHEREAS, These employees possess the intuitive sense to resolve conflicts and save lives, while also possessing the physical ability to restrain persons representing a danger to themselves and others; and
WHEREAS, We could not operate New Hampshire's state or county correctional facilities without the hard work and sacrifices mad each day by our correctional staff;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, MARGARET WOOD HASSAN, GOVERNOR of the State of New Hampshire, do hereby proclaim MAY 4-10, 2014, as CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES APPRECIATION WEEK in the State of New Hampshire.
