Corrections Sergeant Honored With Special Citation Bar
(Concord, NH) New Hampshire Department of Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn presented Corrections Sergeant Stephanie Howland with the Department's Team Commendation citation bar during an October 2, 2013 ceremony. Sergeant Howland was recognized for her role in preventing an inmate suicide attempt in the Secure Psychiatric Unit in Concord on September 27, 2012. The Team Commendation citation bar is awarded for a highly creditable accomplishment by a team of staff members working in concert to resolve an incident while displaying the highest professional conduct as a result of devotion to duty or service to the public.
The Department of Corrections has five medals and citation bars that can be awarded to its employees. Those are the Medal of Honor, the Life Saving medal, the Honorable Service medal, the Line of Duty medal (for injury in the line of duty), and the Team Commendation citation bar.
Sergeant Howland is currently a Training Sergeant assigned to the Corrections Academy and Training program. Four other staff received Team Commendation citation bars for the same incident in an earlier ceremony.
