Minimum Security Inmate Missing from Manchester Transitional Housing Unit

(Manchester, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections reports that a minimum security inmate is missing from the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester, N.H. Richard Valentine, 38, was given permission to leave the facility at approximately 8:00 am and he failed to return at his scheduled time. He was placed on walkaway status.

Valentine is described as a white male, 68 inches tall, 175 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He has tattoos on his upper left arm, left hand, back, and upper right arm.

He was sentenced in Hillsborough County Superior Court to 2 to 6 years for theft by unauthorized taking and 3 to 6 years for burglary. He is eligible for parole on June 18, 2014 with a maximum release date of March 24, 2016.

The Department's Investigations unit is investigating the walkaway jointly with the New Hampshire State Police. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to call the New Hampshire State Prison at 603-271-1801 or their local law enforcement agency.
